Co-Principal Investigators

Dr. Manika Prasad

Dr. Manika Prasad is the director of the Mines Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) Innovation Center at the Colorado School of Mines.

She has led significant research projects on CO₂ storage, including a Department of Energy initiative. Her expertise lies in multidisciplinary research on rock, sediment, and fluid properties, with a particular focus on CO₂ storage and flow zone mapping.

Through her work, Dr. Prasad actively contributes to the development and implementation of carbon capture and storage technologies.

Her leadership and understanding of rock physics make her a valuable asset in advancing CO₂ storage efforts.

Chris Cassle

Chris Cassle, Principal Geologist at Carbon America, has 13 years of experience as a Petroleum Geologist in a variety of roles including development, exploration, and reservoir characterization, and two years as an environmental consultant.

His career has focused primarily on sedimentary basins across the Rocky Mountain West (CO, NM, UT, WY) while working for Encana Oil & Gas, Terra Energy Partners, and Middle Fork Energy Partners.

He has a BS and MS in Geological Sciences from Ohio University and has completed four years of study and research toward a doctorate degree in Geology (all but dissertation) at Colorado State University, where his graduate research focused on sedimentology, stratigraphy, and sedimentary petrography.
